FIRST, sign up for the free newsletter that can be accessed immediately. Future newsletters will be linked with your per-mission quarterly to the email you provide. The newsletter offers pertinent information geared towards parents of children aged 3-18 from a variety of professional educators and therapists. Relevant questions and answers and upcoming classes are also posted in the newsletter.
SECOND, sign up for a Parent Help Live online membership. There are many benefits to the membership that can help parents throughout their child-rearing years. (see question 2 for listed benefits). Just click ―sign up‖ on the home page and choose the monthly membership that best meets your needs.
THIRD, consider filling out the questionnaire if you have specific or pressing concerns that you would like to discuss with a licensed psychologist or therapist. One of our experts will contact you within 48 hours to set up an appointment and ad-vise you on the route you should take with your concerns. Most often, the expert will advise the parent to proceed with one of the following: a one time counseling session, weekly sessions for six weeks, direct you to the membership classes or outside resources.
Experienced therapists and psychologists that specialize in chil-dren are very difficult to find and there is often a long waiting list for those that are in practice. Phone therapy allows peo-ple from any region of the United States to access quality therapists in the comfort of their own home. Parents are able to access experts within days and not have to wait the typical 4-6 week delay to address their concerns. Time saved driving to and from therapy is an added benefit – the session or session(s) are scheduled at a convenient time for the parent.
After reviewing your completed form, your professional consultant may recommend phone therapy or may recommend other services de-pending on your situation. There are no ―cookie-cutter‖ answers here and we do our best to fit your needs. If we believe your needs are better met by going to a counselor in person, we would be happy to refer you local therapists that may be able to meet your needs. However, many times a parent can get their needs met via phone therapy for a variety of con-cerns (see ―What are the benefits to phone therapy for parents‖ – next question).
